Returned scrap generated within the cast house from ingot casters and billet casters or other scrap processed in secondary smelting operations sometimes may have surplus moisture or entrapped moisture within shrinkage voids.

To totally eliminate the risk of molten metal explosions, the scrap needs to be dried.

The bogie hearth preheating furnace designed and built by GCD International permits the loading and unloading from either side, through the use of a forklift. This concept may be scaled up to any size operation
